Artificial Intelligence is commonly referred to as A.I. Just within the last 20 years we have created multiple AI ranging from IBM Watson, Alexa, Cortana, and Siri. In the early 1950s, Alan Turning was credited with the first official AI machine. Since his invention, many people have helped advance technology to the point where we are today. The definition of AI has changed over the years. According to the Oxford languages, it states “the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.” As technology advances, it takes away our freedom but makes our lives easier.

Some people that live “off the grid” do not associate with the internet and are not at risk from Artificial Intelligence. Those of us who constantly consume the internet or have excessive electronic accessories are at risk to Artificial Intelligence. Currently, if you drive an all-electric car you have built-in Artificial Intelligence. This is primarily done for the auto driving feature but also for sensors. To almost everyone, we carry a smartphone that consists of Artificial Intelligence. Studies have been done and I have conducted an experiment myself with Artificial Intelligence marketing. The simple way to conduct the experiment is to have a conversation with someone and talk about a specific topic. For example cats. After sometimes seconds, minutes, or perhaps hours you will start to see generated ads targeted towards you. This is one example of how AI is used to generate data for the user or primary target as it can be commonly referred to. This is just one example of how invasive AI can be. There are multiple reasons AI has helped make our lives easier by creating GPS apps like Apple Maps and Google maps. Especially for the younger generation almost no one uses maps. Signs have progressed to help drivers but the credit goes to GPS.

In the end, AI should be closely monitored and regulated. We have had success from the assistance that AI gives to our daily lives. We also have to think about the implications and how invasive it has now become. Some people, will take the extreme and compare AI to the “Terminator“. Definition wise they are correct and we have created technology similar to SCI-FI fiction film called “Robots”. Self-awareness and self-learning is the biggest fear to many people with AI including myself. At some point in the future, AI could see the Human race as expendable. We have to monitor closely Artificial Intelligence and use it as a tool for advancement, not destruction.
